How Do We Finish?

“The end of all things is near. Therefore be alert and of sober mind so that you may pray. Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.”

‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭4‬:‭7‬-‭8‬

We e all know that the things of this world come to an end. The Roman Empire ended after centuries and finally fell. Countries that used to populate the map of the world are no longer in existence. On a personal note, we know that someday our very lives will come to an end. So how do we handle this inescapable fact and make it a time of glory and fulfillment?

The apostle Peter tells us the way to finish our lives and in retrospect the way live everyday of our lives. We are to be alert, we are to pray and we are love each other deeply. I was drawn to the last call, to love deeply. Not some affection or casual grace or mercy but deep love that covers our sins. What tremendous advice, rather than to keep score, to limit our love based on our situations, we are to love deeply.

Everyone of us has been loved deeply and because of that love we are forgiven! Jesus loved us just as we were and that should transform us to love as He loved.

Our end is only the doorway to an eternity with the one who loves us deeply!
