The old saying tells us that all that glitters is not gold. How true when it comes to the enticements of the world. Many things look exactly like what we not only need but desire. What we often find is that these enticements are not only not what they appear to be, but in fact just the opposite. Satan doesn’t draw someone into sin with something unpleasant or non-appealing. He lures us all with the very things we may think are the real treasures of life, our fleshly desires.
Scripture tells us not to envy sinners, those who pursue the world. For what they pursue is truly not a lasting treasure but one that will bring judgment and pain. We should be looking for, pursuing the future hope that is eternal and will not be cut off.
