Praying for Others!

“And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God.”
Philippians 1:9-11 NIV

I am sure that you have told someone sometime that you would pray for them. This is a great privilege we have being able to pray for others. It is also a great way to help us change our attitudes about those people. If you are praying for someone, it helps us gain a better understanding of who they are and their needs.

If there’s no specific request for prayer, I like to follow Paul’s example of prayer to the Philippians for it covers your major areas of living. One, that love would abound, grow in their lives. Two, they would have greater wisdom to make right decisions for their lives. Three, that they would desire to live a life full of good fruit that is blameless and pure. Four, they live to give glory to God in all they do and say.

This kind of prayer speaks the very best of the kingdom for those we are praying for. I like to add this to specific prayers as well to ensure that the bases are covered. When we pray these petitions over people we are praying for God’s love, God’s wisdom, God’s spiritual fruit and Praise for God is theirs. No better gifts exist!
