Can Others Count on Us?

“The master said, ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant. You have been faithful in handling this small amount, so now I will give you many more responsibilities. Let’s celebrate together!’”
Matthew 25:23 NLT

We all make commitments in life. Some of them are thought to be serious like marriage while others are considered lesser, crucial like social issues. But there is a common thread that runs through these commitments, can we be counted on to be faithful? If we commit to something, do we fulfill our commitment? Do we see our commitment through and complete our tasks even if they prove to be difficult? Do we show up where we said we would be?

One of the most desired qualities in life happens to be someone who is faithful. When we commit to others, to groups or purposes, we have given them our word to do something for them. Think now what it feels like when someone who gave you their promise, failed to honor such a promise or commitment?

Think to the commitment we have given to our God. We have accepted Him as our Lord and placed our lives in His hands. Are we truly committed to Him or are there places we still hold on to that we haven’t submitted to the Father yet? Are we faithful in our service and commitment to Him, can we be counted on? It would be better if we did not make a promise we intend to not keep.

As the master said, well done my good and faithful servant, you have been faithful, come and we shall celebrate your true success. Let us be people who others can count on in all things, people who are faithful!

In Christ
