There are precious few things in life that are absolute. Some of the greatest statements in the Bible are the “I AM” statements made by Jesus Christ to show his connection to the Father in heaven. In today’s verse we see Jesus proclaim that He alone is the way, truth and the life in all creation! What does I AM mean for us?
I AM denotes and shows the divine holy nature, the all knowing, all powerful God of all creation. The God who exists outside of circumstances and time for He is the creator of time and the world we live in. Jesus by proclaiming that He is “I AM”, is linking himself to God the Father as His Son, the Prince of Heaven, the Lord of Lords. He then is showing us that He and He alone is the doorway to heaven and salvation. He is the one who gives us life eternally for He is the Word of God- absolute truth!
In Christ is redemption, restoration and our great hope for today and our tomorrows. Jesus alone is the one who set us free from sin, death and the grave. Our very essence is transformed from one of sin to one of imputed righteousness by the blood He shed for us. That statement, I Am shows Christ as our redeemer and the lover of our soul. It is His great love for you that created the gift of grace for all our days.
Quit looking down due to our afflictions people. The great I AM is calling us to walk on higher ground filled with his eternal love!
