Let Go of Things Not Eternal

“So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭4‬:‭18‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Many of the things we strive for here on earth are not eternal. We cannot take the materialistic with us when we pass from this life. Neither can we take success, titles or awards except those treasures earned for heaven. If that be the case, maybe we should focus less on non eternal and really fix our attention on those things that cannot yet be seen. The eternal things of the kingdom of God!

Paul tells us that the things we can see will be gone but those unseen will last forever. When I think of the effort and sacrifice in my life to obtain the things seen versus unseen, I see a great unbalanced exits. An abundant life in God should look much different than one that is worldly center. But, such a life is no guarantee that troubles will still arise in our lives. We will just be better equipped to deal with our problems than we were before. C S Lewis stated “ the things of life not eternal are things that eternally useless.”

Our value system must reflect the true nature of our new lives in Christ. So let us dwell on the eternal kingdom and promises of God and not the passing fancy of our world. When we pass, we are not leaving home, we are going HOME!

In Christ
