When I was growing up my father often spoke about having a good work ethic. When you did something, you worked hard and put in a good effort to accomplish the task. I have found that this work ethic serves us well in our worldly pursuits. But, there is even a higher standard to be gained. Today’s word sets the standard not for the world but for our Heavenly Father.
How we approach life says a great deal about what we truly believe. If indeed we have a deep love for our Lord, these words will not only ring true but become the foundation for our lives as a whole. Our standard is now our service to our Lord, to accomplish his will not our own. When our service has three characteristics: excellence, energy and compassion, we are showing our deepest love for our God.
Having a good work ethic is a plus but having a life style of service founded on our love for our Lord is true freedom and devotion. Do all you do not out of duty but out of a willing heart that serves a loving God.
