I have over the years had the opportunity to rescue several people from a swimming pool because they didn’t know how to swim. You can see the terror in their eyes as you approach them for they truly have a fear of being lost in that situation. Life may bring us circumstances that can manifest, mirror that fear in us. At that time, we are in need of being rescued and may feverishly thrash about looking for our rescuer.
There is reality most people do not recognize as such a circumstance because it is veiled in trappings of a life with difficulties. That reality is being lost spiritually in our relationship with the Lord. Nothing demands a rescue more than being separated from God our creator. Within a life without the Lord, is a deep ever presence of lack, of loss of meaning of true and abiding love. The physical may be there for a season but our souls suffer and search for what was truly meant for us- our destiny!
The verse today says it so clearly, even though we were dead, He gave us life! Christ is the rescuer of mankind. The one who can save us from our lost existence and give us an eternal grace. God sent his Son to rescue us, look for him today, pray for his presence for he will rescue you when you believe!
