“Then we will no longer be immature like children. We won’t be tossed and blown about by every wind of new teaching. We will not be influenced when people try to trick us with lies so clever they sound like the truth.”
Ephesians 4:14 NLT
Being a person who knows the difference between the latest fad and real truth is vital in this day and age. The foundation of our lives should be the truth we know that sets us free. New ideas, new philosophy that runs counter to biblical truth is not something that can free us but rather binds us to false teaching and leads us away from God. As Solomon penned in ecclesiastical verses, there is nothing new under heaven, it just gets repackaged differently.
There is one absolute truth in all of creation, God’s word. Today the world‘s problem is not that they don’t believe but they believe in almost everything. Paul tells us that we should no longer be immature and influenced by every new idea about what is truth. Rather he calls us to be grounded in the Word so that the lies and deception of this world will not sway us.
Our identity comes from what we believe, what we have faith in. No longer should believers in Christ be so moved by such deception.
We are literally to write God’s truth, his word upon our heart. When we do, our lives will not only be free of lies and deception but we are better able to take full advantage of God’s promises for our life. Be grounded my friends in the living truth of heaven!
