“But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.”
Genesis 6:8 KJV
Before God’s judgement on the earth due to rampant sin, he descended to the earth and found Noah a righteous man. Then Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord and he and his family were saved. This is the first time the term grace is mentioned in the Bible. The Hebrew word for grace is to descend or swoop down. In this case, Noah and his family found God’s mercy, their salvation from coming judgment when God’s grace descended upon them.
We still to this day need a God that will descend into our lives, into our circumstances with his grace to save us from coming judgment. Our salvation thru Christ is assured by the grace of our Father to us who believe. Time and time again in our lives we will need God’s grace and mercy to save us and time after time his grace descends into our afflictions to rescue us. Like Noah, we will need faith to take possession of his grace. But like Noah we and our families can be rescued from troubles of this world and given a fresh beginning!
When troubles come, God’s grace comes as well. Through his grace, we can not only survive but thrive in our walk with our Lord.
