““Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.””
Matthew 18:19-20 NIV
When people are in relationships with others and they come together in agreement to do something, that agreement unifies them and brings a greater level of clarity snd understanding to their efforts. Jesus told his disciples that when two or more of you come into agreement about anything you may ask for, our Father will do it for us. The second great feature of this agreement is that when you gather in my name, there the Lord will be also.
This is foundation for corporate prayer. When we come together seeking God and come into agreement about the needs or issues in our lives, we must have faith that God will move on our behalf. Jesus on several occasions told us to one body in Christ. Paul over and over again tells us believers to be in unity- in agreement! It is in this agreement that we see God’s presence, see God’s power and provision. This unity in the body gives believers the faith to approach God with our petitions and know he will act on them.
Seeking the Lord with other believers is a powerful tool God has given us. When we come together to care for each other and pray for each other, God is right there in the midst of our worship and our lives. When God is present, great things happen!
