“On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.””
John 7:37-38 NIV
Throughout our lives, we will receive invitations to many different activities and functions. Some are social, some are personal and some are spiritual in nature. An invitation to party, to a dinner or some special event are examples of just a few invites we may receive. We pick and choose which invitations we will accept or reject based on what is of importance to us at the time.
Our Lord has a history of invitation. All throughout the Bible we see invitation after invitation extended to people as God moves through the lives of people everywhere. David was to become king though he was a Shepard. Abraham was called to be the Father of many nations out of thousands that lived. Noah was called to save mankind from judgment. Mary was chosen to be the virgin mother of Jesus. The disciples were called to be fishers of men.
The greatest invitation is from the Lord calling out to all mankind to come to him and be saved. The invitation says those who believe in me shall have “living water flow from them”. Jesus is the culmination of God’s invitation for salvation and it is offered freely by grace to all. The invitation is a promise of God’s love at same moment to all mankind and yet personal just to you and I. Please ponder this invitation for your life, it will mean everything to you one day!
In Christ
