“Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life. Rescue me from my enemies, Lord, for I hide myself in you.”
Psalms 143:8-9 NIV
One of the most desired things people seek is a place where they can feel loved and secure. Normally our homes are where we seek such affection and safety. Our homes are our physical refuge from the world and where we can love and be loved. We will defend our homes not just as a financial issue but as our place of family, growth and renewal.
Everyone of us needs that same sense of refuge and love in our spiritual lives as well. We need a place where we can go, where we can trust our dreams and futures to. The psalmist is telling us that we can have such a place. A place where we can realize God’s unending love, where we can take refuge and be restored. It is in his presence that where we find direction and safety. We can trust our futures to him as he never fails to be there for us.
God indeed is our refuge and our strength! We can abide in his presence and know the goodness of the Lord forever. Now that is what I call home.
In Christ
