“But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet. For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
1 Thessalonians 5:8-9 NIV
The scriptures tell us over and over again that we will do life, live out our days one way or another. We will live those days in faith and love if we walk them in the ways of the Lord. We choose what kind of life we will experience, one of wrath or one of salvation. Salvation means a method or means of being saved from harm, ruin or loss. Since we by our very nature avoid those things that will bring us harm, it makes sense we would seek the means that would prevent that harm.
The problem is that to avoid that harm we must put our flesh nature out of our lives and adopt a new direction, new life in someone who has the ability to change our circumstances. That change demands new thinking, new actions, new foundations for our lives. All of that can only be found in the promised One, the Messiah Jesus Christ. It our choice who will we believe, who will we trust with our very lives.
There are two destinations to be gained. One is full of the issues of the world, the lies of the flesh and the consequences of eternal suffering. The another is plainly put, life and life more abundant than any we have ever known. Since we live in the day, let us define our outcome each day by living in faith of our Lord- living out our salvation.
He has meant for us to live without wrath. We need only trust that his words are life to us and a window to our deliverance from the wrath in our journey! Our choice!
In Christ
