“Jesus said to him, “Shall I come and heal him?” The centurion replied, “Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed.”
Matthew 8:7-8 NIV
One of my all time favorite stories of Jesus is the story of the centurion and his faith. What this story demonstrates to us is that there is a very simple but powerful concept we have to come to understand and put into practice in Our lives. The centurion came seeking healing from Jesus and by accounts was not yet a believer. Yet this man understood authority and its power to change circumstances. Jesus said he would come with the man to minister to his sick servant. But, the centurion responded, “ I am not worthy of such an honor but just say the word, and it shall be done.”
You see all authority in all the earth and under the earth has been given to Jesus. The centurion understood who Jesus was, his authority here on earth. Jesus just needed to speak the word and the healing would be accomplished. Do we today understand who Jesus really is and do we know the authority he possess? Like the centurion, we should come to the point that there is no shadow of doubt who Jesus is in our lives and the power God has given him.
When we come to that revelation of Jesus, we like the centurion will have the faith to believe that Jesus can move our mountains with just a word! As Jesus stated, no not in all Israel have I seen such faith”. It is life changing my friends.
