In any given day, we as human beings will have hundreds of thoughts that can be on a whole host of subjects. I find it amazing what kind of thoughts can pop into our brains. Paul is helping us out by giving us some great direction on what we should focus our thoughts on to have a be productive faith walk: focus on those things that are of the kingdom of heaven. The more we fill our brains with God’s glory, God’s word , the more enriched our lives will be!
The scriptures tell us that out of the abundance of the heart our mouths speak. What do we fill our lives with: things of the world or things of heaven?
Whatever is right, what is pure, what is excellent and praise worthy are the very things we should dwell on, build our lives on. We want our mouths to speak of God’s goodness, his glory and his great love for us all. This is accomplished when we fill our hearts and minds with the things of God.
When the world presses up against us, let us not dwell on our issues but on the one who has delivered us- Jesus. Let us seek the problem solver not dwell on the problem. Amen!
