“And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.”
John 6:35 KJV
There are few things in life that drive us to more compelling things than our physical needs for food and water. Without water we cannot live beyond a week or so and if we don’t eat regularly, we believe we are truly starving. The desire to satisfy our physical hunger and thirst are very strong motivations in our lives. Jesus tells us in these words today, that He and He alone provides the bread and water of life.
This is the spiritual side of our existence. God who made us in His image, put in our spiritual DNA the desire to be in relationship with our creator. Sin separated us from God and thus our desire to truly know Him was blocked. Jesus came as the way to restore that relationship by being our substitute for our sin. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life to the Father. We must partake of Him to obtain life everlasting and to reestablish our relationship with God.
We will never hunger nor thirst spiritually if we come to Jesus. He will restore us and redeem us so that we will have life more abundantly. Our entire life will become a testament to His love and sacrifice for us, not only spiritually but physically as well. The presence of our Savior will bring healing and power to our lives! Partake of Jesus today and never thirst again.
