Life is sometimes like a drive down a packed highway full of traffic and stress. We can find ourselves challenged in many ways that has the potential to drain us and leave us weary and spent. We can navigate these situations for a while, but there will come a time when we need a safe place, a refuge to recharge and restore.
We need to be able to say to ourselves without doubt, we have such a refuge. Can we say to the Lord, you are my shelter and I will dwell in shadow of your mighty protection? A refuge is a place of trust, of safety and peace. It has to be a place where the push of the world and its craziness does not have the ability to infringe on its peace and security. We have all longed for just such a place.
If we dwell in the presence of God, we will receive his rest, his peace and his love. This will be a time of safety and restoration that is not only available forever but is truly healing as well. What we gain in the process is a faith and trust in our Lord that we can utterly depend on! Think a refuge for our lives!
