“Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. “Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.”
Luke 6:36-37 NIV
When I look at the true values of our society, I find that many of those values fly in the face of God’s word. It appears over and over again that our world is desperately trying to rewrite the truth God has given us to live by. That truth is being cast as wrong while the wrong of human thinking is being proposed as the new truth to live by.
In our verses today, Jesus gives us the do’s to live by to be truly set free in our life: no condemnation, no judgment and no unforgiveness. None of these burdens this fallen world tells us we should carry are for us who believe in Jesus. No, he tells us to forgive and do, not judge, for this is the pathway to a life full of freedom and mercy. We must get rid of these chains that bind us, bind our hearts to a life of bondage of this fallen world.
Our call is one of powerful redemption from Jesus that fuels the desire in our hearts to give mercy, to forgive, to not judge others! We have been shown mercy. We have been forgiven by our Lord. Let us turn from condemnation and receive his freedom and peace today by doing his will for our lives.
In Christ
