“I can do nothing on my own. I judge as God tells me. Therefore, my judgment is just, because I carry out the will of the one who sent me, not my own will.”
John 5:30 NLT
One the most common spiritual traps believers fall into is placing way more credence to what other people may think about you. In all my years, I have never even come close to being able to make everyone happy. Some want it rain while others pray for clear weather. Some want this kind of church while others seek something entirely different. We as disciples of Christ must focus only what God thinks of us, what does he want us to do!
You see when it comes down to the final say, we should be seeking God’s direction and counsel. This keeps us from chasing the latest fad, the latest new idea in truth and keeps us grounded in God’s Word. When we realize we can do nothing on our own but are dependent on God, there will be a freedom that comes with this truth. I strive to be as burden free as possible so that I can truly serve my Lord. Chasing after public opinion does create freedom but a yoke unending demands.
I wish to carry out my Father’s will not my own nor the wishes of others. Since his will for me is based on love, humble service and faith, I am quite sure I have the bases covered I should care about. Create freedom for yourself by seeking God’s will and watch how clear and productive your life can become!
In Christ
