““His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’”
Matthew 25:23 NIV
Ever been disappointed by someone who promised to do something for you but failed to keep their commitment to you. Unfortunately, it happens all the time in our personal lives, businesses and churches. People make commitments to others but do so casually and do not take their promises seriously. These actions show a real lack concern and the will to honor our word. We should takes our promises seriously and our commitments with a sense of purpose.
The verse today shows us the reward the Lord had for us if we are faithful in our actions and words. God is looking for those who will honor their commitments and perform their tasks with a sense of purpose. Believe it or not, we too are looking for those who are faithful to us, those we can trust and depend on. We find faithfulness a very desirable quality in people and so does God.
Let us be people who not frivolous with our words or our commitments. If we commit to something , let us not only see it through but do it to the best of our ability. In honoring our word, we honor God and show ourselves to be faithful servants as well. I look forward to the day when the Lord says to me, well done my good and faithful servant!
In Christ
