“A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.”
Proverbs 17:22 NIV
Most people think that a walk with Christ is all about the dos and don’ts of being a holy child of God. The Bible does contain many lessons, instruction and direction for those of us who love God. But, stop and think here for a moment, this is all about a loving relationship between the Lord and ourselves. A relationship that is filled with worship, filled with praise, filled with peace and filled with JOY!
I find great pleasure and tremendous joy in my relationships that I have with certain people in my life. Why, my friends, would we not find great joy in the presence of the Lord? In his presence, we find the very things in life that the world has little of. Goodness, healing, salvation and contentment are all found in his hands. I believe due to life’s struggles and our stubborn will, we are conditioned to accept the mundane in our lives and not the riches of our Father!
Today we see how a joyful heart is such good medicine for our lives and souls. We need to learn to laugh, to have his joy in our lives. If we are going to last, we need to laugh, to have the joy of the Lord in our days. His joy will raise us up and sustain us even in times of need. We need a life that has a cheerful heart beating in us for we know we are loved, we are saved, we are redeemed!
In Christ
