We Need Roots – Depth in our Lives

“And some seed fell on [shallow soil covering] the rocks, and as soon as it sprouted, it withered away, because it had no moisture.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭8‬:‭6‬ ‭AMP‬‬

Our daily lives are made up daily routine, mundane, that we often search for things that have a deeper, richer meaning. We strive to find those events or hobbies that bring us joy and pleasure so we can enjoy life more. We become so immersed in past times and entertainment that we may miss the real key to living a fuller life. Real joy and peace do not come from another activity but from finding a deeper peace in our lives that can endure when there are times of struggle. We need depth in our lives, real truth and purpose but cannot find it due to the clutter of our lives.

Real joy comes from having a foundation, a belief that surpasses the events of our lives and gives us true freedom. This kind of revelation comes only from God. Our relationship with him was the reason mankind was created in the first place. The verse today demonstrates how having little depth spiritually in our lives prevents the seed of God’s word from flourishing in our life. Our relationship with the Lord is not, nor should it be a casual encounter, but one of real love and desire to know him. It is when we go beyond the superficial to the faithful life with him that we will find his blessings.

We should seek to be good soil so that God’s word and promises can be manifested in our lives. Great benefit comes from those things in life we have a passion and desire for. Our desire to know the Lord will elevate us far beyond anything that a worldly life can provide. Seek him and you find greater love, greater purpose and greater joy than ever before.

In Christ
