“So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up. Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone—especially to those in the family of faith.”
Galatians 6:9-10 NLT
One of the things that people remember most about others, even strangers, is whether that person did good for them or others. When we go out of our way to do something good for someone in need, it gets noticed. Noticed not only here on earth but in heaven. The verses today state that these good deeds will help us gain a harvest of blessings.
Seeking to do good deeds also shows our willingness to serve. If an opportunity is before us to help someone, we should seize it. We may never have that opportunity again. The Word tells us to especially be aware of the needs of fellow believers. Seeking opportunities to do good comes from a heart that understands first the needs we see but also the desire to change those circumstances by our doing good deeds.
John Wesley stated his creed for doing good, we should all adopt it. Always seek to do good; to all people; in all ways, in all times, in all circumstances and for all things. Seek goodness and it will find you!
