“Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that everyone may see your progress. Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.”
1 Timothy 4:15-16 NIV
Life is not one day or one season but many different years with different opportunities and challenges. Yet, we are called upon to navigate these seasons and these changing times so that we will know success and progress. Paul talks about the spiritual race of our life and our desire to not only finish the race but finish well. There some unique qualities that will enable us to finish and do so with real power.
The word tells us to watch our lives and what we believe for these are great indicators of our future success and our gain we will find in that success. We are told to persevere in our faith and our beliefs for they will be the efforts that save us but those who witness our efforts. Our lives are to be an example to others not just our running the race of life to finish. It goes on to tell us that others will see our progress and be given hope in that progress.
God intends us believers to persevere in our faith, in our beliefs in God everyday we draw breath. Why, because not only will be doing God’s will but we will be a living testimony to others. We have been given a gift of salvation by God, lets us show others just how dynamic and wonderful that gift is by our lives and our perseverance in our Lord Jesus Christ. This race we are running is the cornerstone of our lives and other’s future may hang in the balance due to our example and faith.
Finish our race and finish it strongly! God can use your spiritual success to show case his Goodness to others.
