“Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth.”
Colossians 3:1-2 NLT
When you belong to a family, a club, an organization or a country, the more you dedicate your time and thoughts to that group the more you will identify with them. For example, if there is a group of people you associate with and spend a fair amount of time with, these will your friends and colleagues in life. Paul is telling us today that since we have been saved into a new life with Christ, we should fix our sights, our hopes on him in this new life. We are not only new people but we have a new country.
If our attention is fixed on the kingdom of God, we will find that the change process into new people in Christ will go better for us. How you may say? We are changing our assumptions, changing our beliefs, changing our associations. The realities of heaven now become our standard. We think and act more like kingdom people and less like people of earth with all the negative and destructive effects of our sin. We embrace God’s grace, God’s love and God’s presence. The impossible of our old lives now becomes the reality of our kingdom lives. We are no longer bound to lies of this world but bound to promises of our God.
I challenge you today to elevate your thinking not in an academic sense but a spiritual sense. Seek the kingdom of God and Everything you need will given to you. Look up people, the best is yet to come!
