“Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.”
James 4:8, 10 KJV
We humans have a tough time submitting to others. Often teachers, parents, coaches, bosses or spouses are the very ones we struggle with having a submitted attitude. People like being in control, in charge and doing things their way.
Our Word today shows us that God wants to draw near to him, repent of our sin and humble ourselves. His calling is designed to help us elevate our lives to the potential God has for us. Like many who try to teach us, God is showing us the way to being truly successful, to being lifted up in your life.
There are three ways we can choose to submit to him.
1. Grudgingly with great reluctance
2. When we are forced to because we have no other choice.
3. With a humble heart that desires to be in relationship with God.
Now I ask you which one has the greatest potential for both success and personal and spiritual growth? God has a perfect plan for your life and the sooner we submit and get on with his kingdom business for us, the better we will feel and more impactful our lives will become. Today is a great day to humbly serve our God and see him move in our lives with love and power!
