The women said to Naomi: “Praise be to the Lord, who this day has not left you without a guardian-redeemer. May he become famous throughout Israel! He will renew your life and sustain you in your old age. For your daughter-in-law, who loves you and who is better to you than seven sons, has given him birth.””
Ruth 4:14-15 NIV
There is a great story in the Bible about a woman who demonstrated not only great love but great faith as well. Ruth was a woman who married a man from Israel but he died. Her mother-in-law also lost her husband and another son leaving her alone in the world. But her daughter in law decided to stay with her and take on her mother’s faith in God. Now these two defenseless women moved back to Israel to try and make a life together. Enter in the mercy of the Lord.
There was a man named Boaz who took interest in these women and eventually took up their cause of redemption and married the woman. The verses show how this man was praised for renewing the women’s lives and defended them bringing about family redemption. The term guardian redeemer is used to demonstrate the character and evidence of such a person.
We should take heart today, that like Ruth and Naomi, we have a guardian redeemer. His name is Jesus. Jesus came to restore our lives, give us a great hope and promise for our future and to give us his name. Jesus is our guardian as he protects us from evil and delivers us from penalty of sin. We now belong to the family of God and our lives have been redeemed.
Like these women in the story, we can all secure a guardian redeemer today, the One who has come for us in perfect love. His name is Jesus, Son Of God, prince of peace! Call on him today and be saved.
In Christ
