“Rid yourselves of all the offenses you have committed, and get a new heart and a new spirit. Why will you die, people of Israel? For I take no pleasure in the death of anyone, declares the Sovereign Lord. Repent and live!”
Ezekiel 18:31-32 NIV
I am a firm believer in that there are consequences for the things we do, for the things we commit to. Commit to something long enough, you will become very much like the thing you are committed to. Many of us have a hard time with commitment. It takes real effort and sacrifice to commit to something wholly. That is why we like to go half way, commit only to a point we feel comfortable with. I can guarantee you such commitment will not produce the very best in results in our lives.
God tells us in Ezekiel to rid ourselves of our offenses and secure a new heart and spirit. If we commit to such a life change, the Lord tells us we shall live. Change or repentance takes commitment and effort but with such effort we shall live in the grace and blessings of God. We should purpose in our hearts to be those who repent, commit to the Lord and walk in his love and bounty forever.
The question for us today is simple, what kind of life do we desire to have? One of lack, one void of hope and peace? Or one filled peace and provision of God? Answer that question then fully commit to your answer- you become what you commit to!
In Christ
