Come to Worship Him!

“and asked, “Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.””
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭2‬:‭2‬ NIV

When we come to Jesus, do we come to worship him or use him? The world likes the idea of Jesus when they can use him to gain their own desires. Politicians use the name of Jesus to get votes. Companies use Jesus to market their products. We, we use Jesus as if he were Amazon to get what we want when we want it. Have we relegated our Savior to our own genie who should deliver to us our own desires?

The three wise men came to find Jesus for one purpose and one purpose only, to worship him. Even their gifts were well thought out and fit for a Savior. Unlike the gift card of mentality we use, they brought gifts of worship: Gold for a king who would rule the world, frankincense the sweet smell of worship to God and myrrh to place on his sacrificial burial robe. The wise understood who it was they were going to see, the king of all, the Son of God and savior who died for mankind.

Do we approach our time with Jesus with such reverence? We should come before him as the one who is fully man, fully God who came to save us all! We should come to him and worship him! The angels announcing his birth said on this day a Savior has been born. In our times of need, let’s not forget who we are coming to and worship him whose name is above all names!

In Christ
