“Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.””
Luke 6:38 NIVThere is an epidemic of need going on in the world today. Various parts of the world are wrapped in conflict and others in times of famine and sickness. The headlines continually show us the strife and chaos that grips our world and even our own nation. There is a significant population in our very own country who goes hungry while so much food is wasted! I often ask myself self how can this be. Then there is the tremendous spiritual needs of our lost society that seems reach new lows almost everyday.
Now we know that the world needs Jesus in a major way but aren’t we called to be his hands and feet. Jesus tells us that we should have a giving nature, an open heart to those in need. Jesus understands that the human race is one who has always had great needs since our fall from grace. God intends for us to be his agents, followers who first have compassion on the needy then give as directed by our Lord. The Word speaks about how the goodness of God impacts people in need- brings them to repentance. God intends us to show case his goodness by giving to others in need. That giving spirit in us will be used to bless others for God’s glory.
Unlike the world that hoards its wealth, let us be people of God who will give and do so cheerfully. Jesus tells us such giving will be rewarded as it will be given back to in the measure we give. I quite certain this giving back includes all of God’s blessings not just money!
Want more in your life, be an open handed cheerful giver and find out you can’t out give God!In Christ
