“according as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.”

A wise person of faith should prepare themselves for what they know will likely come in life to include a time trouble. One of the great lessons we find over and over again in the New Testament, be prepared for the journey you will travel in this life, both exceeding abundance and those of times of discouragement. Paul told us in Ephesians to put on the armor of God as a defense against the attacks of satan and the afflictions of life. Central to that armor is the sword of the spirit, God’s Word and his promises.
The more of the Word we have in our life, in our heart, the better we are able to stand firm when times of trouble come our way. With the word we are not surprised as to our times of testing and it can provide us the peace to manage these difficult times effectively.
It is not the absence of affliction in our lives but the response to those afflictions that make people of faith more than over comers thru Christ. Us being prepared does not negate the trouble in our lives but it helps us to focus on the coming glory of God and our victory in him. It is that hope in Christ that propels us through our afflictions and keeps us in his peace.
