“You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love. For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.””
Galatians 5:13-14 NIV
True friendship is marked by the presence of support, sacrifice and commitment to others. Those qualities are the very same ones that define love. There are two great commands in the kingdom: both revolve around who is it we love in our lives: God and our neighbors. Paul made it clear that love was the greatest trait we as humans can possess. Since love occupies center stage in our relationships, shouldn’t we strive to learn how to truly love.
The word tells us that we should humbly serve in love. Love that seeks not its own way, is forgiving, is patient and is always there to be counted on. No wonder the scriptures say such love fullfills all the law demands. To be full of such compassion and love sets the stage for our lives to be fully used by God for his perfect will for us. We should lose ourselves in our lives for Christ and as his followers, we then should love others as ourselves.
Today look for opportunities to love others, to serve them humbly for the Lord. It will bring great joy and peace to your life and your future!
In Christ
