“And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.”
Genesis 2:2-3 KJV
At the end of another busy week, do we slow down and take time to rest and worship? I would guess our answers would reflect some change in schedule but not a time of true rest and recovery. I used to wonder why God, who never grows weary, would command us to observe the sabbath and cease from our work? True to form, God has a special purpose for his day of rest, worship and it’s rest for our bodies, minds and spirits.
God blessed the seventh day and sanctified for his glory and our good. Anytime is great time to worship the Lord but to do it on a day that God has made holy, set aside for himself, is a special opportunity for true worship. It also provides for us a time of rest, healing and restoration. God gave us this day to enable us to run the race of life with him and for him by giving us space and time from the daily grind.
Spend time on Sunday worshipping the Lord and dwelling in his peace and glory to be renewed for the Monday that is to come. We are not made for 24/7 no matter what the world may want. Set Sunday aside for Him who created it all and then rested from his work to enjoy his creation!
In Christ
