“And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ,”

When we find something in our lives we not only like, but desire it intensely, we will be committed to pursuing that something. None of us having found something rewarding, something so satisfying would neglect it or treat as something trivial. No we would make it our business to secure as much of that item or issue as we could possibly get.
Paul tells us today, that he prayed for the church to come to the revelation that a deeper love for Christ would be the spring board to insight and truth in our lives. That deeper love would give us the very eyes to see and the ears to hear the gospel, the Word of God, so that we would be able to discern the truth that would set us free! It will arm us with the power of Christ and ground our hearts in the compassion of true humble service.
Paul also said in another letter to the church, that the greatest force, the greatest power in all creation is love. It was God’s love that paved the road of salvation. It is love that will power us until our Lord returns for us in the air. It is love that brought us the Holy Spirit to guide us and teach us. It is a deeper love in us that will move mountains in our lives for God’s glory!
