“Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”
1 Peter 5:6-7 NIV
One of my favorite stories about Jesus is the one that takes place in the boat with his disciples. Jesus is asleep in the back of the boat and a storm is raging all around them. The boat is taking on water and the disciples become afraid they may drown. They awaken Jesus and ask him do you not care that we are about to drown? Well Jesus awakes, rebukes the storm then asks where was their faith.
If We are going for though a storm of our own, do we ever ask Jesus do you not care? Of course he cares! But storms in our lives are not meant to destroy us but to grow us, test our faith in Jesus. What the disciples forgot was that Jesus had the power to save them but he wanted to give them the opportunity to grow their trust in him as well.
When we are under the gun and being pushed on all sides, do we remember that Jesus is there with us and will not abandoned us. He wants to teach us kingdom faith, teach us to how to believe. Jesus rebuked the storm and there was peace. He will walk with you through the trials so we gain not only survival from the storm but we can learn that it will teach us to trust in him as never before.
Don’t forgo the lesson because you are suffering. Receive his grace in the midst of trial and get the whole blessing that Jesus offers us through this experience. I want my suffering to produce God’s will in my life not just misery! Trust him!
In Christ
