Waiting is a Time of Preparation

“Be patient, then, brothers and sisters, until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop, patiently waiting for the autumn and spring rains. You too, be patient and stand firm, because the Lord’s coming is near.”
‭‭James‬ ‭5‬:‭7‬-‭8‬ ‭NIV‬‬

If you have ever planted a garden or plants around your house, you know that when the seed has been planted is just the beginning. There is a time of waiting for the seed to come to life and produce its bounty. This time of waiting is anything but just a time to sit around and just watch. No, the time of waiting is a time of action.

When seed has been planted, then begins the work to water the seed, fertilize the planting and keep the weeds away. We water our spiritual seeds with our prayers. We fertilize the seed with our words of faith as to what God will do. We weed the planting with our encouragement and praise to keep the doubts and fears away.

Once the seeds of the kingdom are sown, we must use the time to prepare for the harvest that is coming. Being prepared allows us to take full advantage of our planting, our faith and God’s goodness. Plant the seeds of the Gospel and then prepare to see the harvest come in faith!
