“Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun.”
Psalms 37:3-6 NIV
People often think that to do good, to give to others, to help them find the joy of the Lord is only giving such contentment to others. I would offer here this morning that by giving, by doing good, we are not only aiding others in finding God’s goodness, we are helping ourselves find such contentment as well..
The Psalms we are using today tells us if we trust God, dwell with him, take delight in God and do good things, he will give us the desire of our heart. How? He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn. Please catch this, God’s reward to us comes by taking delight in doing his will, doing good for others, trusting him. Not only will we see our contentment grow but we are also blessing others in their search for such peace as well. This comes with a simple directive- commit your ways to the Lord and trust him!
When we give ourselves over to God, we become an instrument of great value to the kingdom. We become the very tool God uses to bless others and to show them his goodness. What else can come from such a commitment than the riches of God’s love and peace! Want peace? Commit to the One who can bring it to your life- our Lord God Almighty.
