Commitments Shape Our Lives!
“But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness dwells. So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him.”
2 Peter 3:13-14 NIV
I heard a phrase a while back and I still believe it to true. What you to commit to will shape your life! Now there are different levels of commitment and each brings with it its own reward and difficulty. Many people fail to commit to anything of real substance therefore their lives lack the substance- the purpose they may really desire. Others commit but only do so half heartily. These people become frustrated in life as they see a partial reward from their commitment but never realize the whole benefit of their effort. Lastly, there are those who commit fully to the things they believe. These folks will reap whatever reward their commitment can bring them.
The brings up the key point of what we commit to. The choices we make in our commitments will shape our lives for the future. Scripture today tells us to make every effort to live a life for Christ. Surely we will have good days and some not so good, but our commitment should remain to serve our Lord and Savior. Want to see your life improve in the coming years? Commit to serving our Lord for didn’t we already commit our lives to him already.
If you haven’t made that commitment to Christ yet, think about what you would want to see your future, your eternal future to be like. Commitment is a choice, we either make them or we don’t. I pray you make the choice that will change your destiny forever! I also pray all of us commit our daily lives to the Lord so we may be shaped for his good service!
