There are three phases of our life, the past, the present and the future. Within these three timeframes lies the balance of our lives and our hopes forever. If we live too much in either the past or the future, we are out of balance and miss the blessings of each day before us.
When David wrote the 23rd Psalm, he was expressing the glory of God in all three times of our lives. Goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life. I will have a past laden with God’s goodness. My present days will be a living testament to his glory and my future is secured in the presence of my God.
We can see his blessings written across the pages of our lives, past, present and future. We are assured of his presence and his unfailing love for the entire experience of who we are. The part that stirs my hope is that the best part awaits us in heaven. We will dwell in the very presence of God himself forever. That is the ultimate gift from the kingdom- hope beyond all our circumstances!
