“Jesus said to the people who believed in him, “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings. And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free.”

There have been many wars and conflicts fought to gain or maintain independence. People truly desire to be free, free to live their lives as they may wish. The one thing about freedom in this fallen world is that it is not free and will cost you. Millions of people have suffered in the fight for freedom and many continue to do so even today.
This is the fight for physical freedom, the fight to live where you desire and go where you please. But there is another struggle going on in our world, the spiritual fight for men’s souls. Jesus came for this purpose, to provide a way for the hearts of mankind to be restored to the God who created them. You see the spirit is eternal while our bodies are destined for eventual death. Jesus came to show us the way, the truth to spiritual freedom and set us free once and for all.
The truth is the Word of God and his teachings are those that will show us the way to live and to believe. Freedom gained through Jesus is eternal and it is a freedom that can never be taken away. The verse says if the Son sets you free you are free indeed! Free from fear, free from sin, free from death. You have been redeemed to your Father and will live an eternal life with him that knows no sickness or pain.
Let us purpose in our hearts everyday to follow our Savior who has saved our souls and has truly set us free!
