One of the most damaging traits that I find in myself and all of mankind is being half hearted. We do things, love others and live our lives about half way of what we truly are capable of. It seems Ingrained in man that our lost nature tells us this mode of living is sufficient and that we can get by doing things half way. What a sorry lot are we for allowing this kind of thinking and lifestyle to have reached a level of acceptance for us.
God always knows what we need for he created us. In today’s verses he is showing us that we must love our Lord with our whole heart, with everything that is within us. Not only is our Father worthy of such love and respect, he is showing us how we can grow to be who he created us to be. No half way efforts, no limited commitment, no lukewarm life style. God wants us all in for our spiritual walk with him and our life.
With just this one command, God is giving us the key to a life of prosperity, freedom, power and grace. Love with your whole heart! C S Lewis stated that a man’s spiritual health can be determined by how deeply he loves the Lord. Love like there is no tomorrow, give like everything depended on your heart being committed. This key to the kingdom will open every door you face for the greatest is always love!
